but you have to be very careful about the 'Lock Area'

while using JAF, it will backup the LOCK area as rpl ... and if one day you got locked after flash(yes, it WILL happen sometimes, but i hvn't seen one by myself yet ...), u can use the backup to restore the lock area .... otherwise, there is still no BB5 unlocking ....

so, I will suggest that not touching the PM area as well ...
