Someone told me that the brothers out there are no longer cracking
Japanese phone because people have lost interest in them. As much as I
hope that the goodness can be shared to 'outsider' (even the Ministry of
Internal Affair and Communication hopes that the makers can make it
oversea and foster competition locally by placing restriction on having
SIM lock by 2010, when the 4th generation network are launched)

But you people have to show the demand before anything happen. I suggest
that you people should stop grumping if you don't show sufficient demand
to begin with.

P.S: I'm writing this to address to the larger community and not
not pointing at anyone who have replied above in particular.

But the thing is cellphone itself is "cheap" in JAPAN. It does not worth a penny in JAPAN.
Considering a high spec phone like the 920sh with the FULL WIDE VGA SCREEN (480x854) is selling less than 30000yen about HK$21XX.

What phones can u buy in HK with that $21XX?
A phone with only a QVGA screen or even a stupid 176x220 screen?
Basically they didnt make a penny when they sell u the cellphone itself.
In fact , they are losing money on it. They make money from the monthly fee.
Thats why its "bonded to a network for some of the tightly integrated functions that's network dependent" as you said.

So wht are you expecting?
You want to switch to other carrier?
You want to use FREE mp3 ringtone?
then go use those nokia, SE out there for overseas market.

I've been in Japan since April last year, of course I know what you are talking about. By the way I have been using Vodafone/Softbank from day 1 till now. Will wait for iphone to come also.

The "you" in the first sentence is of course no referring to you terenshi , but to those in HK or oversea who envy and want those nice design/high spec Japanese phone but yet lament about the price as evident during 902/903 days.

I almost want to hammer them whenever they made such I want I want comment without thinking about why unlocking japanese phone comes to an end with 903sh in the first place.

surely its all about $,$ and $. Ask laser whether he would spend nights and days trying the 920sh if he can earn more from it than his existing line of SE jobs, you will know what I mean.
