GPRS in Canada

Hi all, I am a FIDO user who lives in Vancouver. I own a 802SH and I called FIDO the other day to activate GPRS. They gave me the GPRS settings so I can setup my phone manually. However, my phone FAILS to connect - NO Internet / Email.

Unwilling to accept teh fact, I talked to EVERY Phone dealer in Richmond and try to get an answer... but guess what? They don't know ANYTHING (Seriously, I feel like talking to morons).

Just curious, anyone manage to get their phone online in Canada? I have a 1.4 Firmware on my 802SH at the moment. Even if you don't have the 802SH, try the settings with your 902SH. Worth the try since its only 3 cents per KB.

For those of you who wants the FIDO setting, here it is:

General APN - wap.fido.ca
Internet APN - internet.fido.ca
Wap page - http://wap.fido.ca
User: fido
Password: fido
IP - 205.151.11.11
Port - 9201 (0 = ZERO)

*YOU MUST ACTIVATE GPRS BY CALLING FIDO**

NO Internet, No Email, no MMS... maybe firmware problem? I recall Jerry told me that once I flash my phone to Euro.. my GPRS will be USLESS

802SH = TROUBLESOME

我用緊Sharp 902SH 日版架，，都系fido network 我用GPRS 無問睇窩，，
你用歐版上網應該無問睇丫，，，我識得有人用歐版都上到fido network 等我 PM 你個WAP setting 喇，同你post 果個唔同。，

I got the answer... I am using old firmware... I think I need an upgrade (T.T) I should of get a 902SH~!!!

現在的 v802sh 歐版 firmware 是不可以上網和收發mms的 ~

現只有我們謝利記的"完美歐洲版firmware"才可以進行上述的功能, 請注意 ~

902 不受此限 ~

Hi, I am using a 903sh now. Can you share how to setup the internet setting with me? I used to be able to browse webpage & use e-mail from my Sony Ericsson Z800i. I have no idea how to setup for my 903 now. Thank you :-D

this is the setting for HK 3-G network providers. see if this can be a good reference for you to input the setting in your country? It is only a reference and you need to consult your network provider for the details.

It works really well.
I just call Fido to get the information.

SHARP

903 SH

Access Point > Create New

Access Point Name: Fido WAP
APN: wap.fido.ca
Authentication Type: NONE
User Name: fido
Password: fido
DNS: <none>
Linger Time: 120

Proxy > Create New

Proxy Name: Fido WAP
Proxy Address: 205.151.11.11
Access point: (select Fido WAP you just created)
Home: http://wap.fido.ca
Port Number: 8080
Authentication Type: HTTP-BASIC
User name: <blank>
Password: <blank>

Application > WAP Settings > Create New

Profile Name: Fido WAP
Proxy: (select Fido WAP you just create)

Make sure you select Activate.

MMS Settings for the Sharp 903 SH

Profile Name: Fido MMS
Proxy: Fido WAP
Relay Server URL: http://mms.fido.ca
